Risk Rating workshop #1

November 15, 2025

This is just so obvious: who would ever use climate risk assessment data if the underlying methodology is not clear and transparent? If there are no logical definitions of the critical thresholds? If there is no explanation of why the proposed methodology is relevant and useful?

A methodology is just a recipe that allows you to transform several “in-edible ingredients” into one easy-to-use product.

A methodology is a “cooker”: it should match the intended use of the product, address the need, and clearly answer well-defined questions and requirements.

In this live workshop session we discussed:

1. Risk scores: why do we need this kind of metric?

2. Which questions can we answer using Risk Scores?

3. Which use cases for Risk Scores?

4. Choice of the methodology

5. High probability means "high risk"?

6. How we decompose time series into probabilities

7. Risk Matrix: common misunderstanding

8. What is the difference betwen 3 and 4 ?

The entire PPT of the workshop presentation can be found HERE
